Summary:
As the IT department head, the CIO leads strategic planning for the IT department and supports IT Directors in planning, budgeting, and managing resources and work performance in their respective functional units. The CIO provides vision and leadership to the campus community to facilitate strategic planning for advanced technology that is mission-driven, productive, dynamic, and cost-effective. This person is accountable for overall project management of many of the initiatives related to improving the College's use of technology resources, and is an IT department and college liaison to various internal and external groups regarding current and future uses of technology for all College constituents. The CIO is a member of the VP Finance & Administration Senior Staff. They are also a vital contributor to the Institutional Policy & Planning Committee, the principal planning and policy group for all aspects of the College. This individual will also serve on other College committees that may be directly or tangentially connected to technology.
Primary responsibilities:
The CIO has responsibility for approximately 35 full-time diversely skilled staff, including a management team that is composed of five full-time staff: Director of User Services, Media Services and LEDS (formerly Academic Technologies); Director of Infrastructure; Director of Enterprise Systems; Assistant Director of Strategic Initiatives; and IT Administrative Assistant.
This position has ultimate responsibility for overall systems uptime, performance, Infrastructure reliability and planning, Data Reporting and Analytics, and IT Security engineering and execution within the information systems/technology environment. The CIO is responsible for maintaining a high degree of customer service within the team. They are responsible for managing the ever-evolving technical needs of the organization and the expectations of the various stakeholders and constituent groups.
The CIO has an overarching responsibility for the College’s budget associated with Technology. They are expected to actively participate in Capital and Operational budget planning processes and oversee software acquisition for organization-wide utilization.The CIO is responsible for the IT department budget $9M-$10M annually (including operating and capital expenses), and works with the IT senior management team to develop, implement, and manage it.
This position typically requires work outside of standard work hours to respond to communications and requests related to general IT issues and needs. This may also be needed to address emergency issues that impact the 24/7 operations of the IT team and/or the systems and applications it manages.

The IT team this position manages is comprised of full-time staff, student workers, contractors, and consultants across multiple shifts. An ability to manage a diverse team is critical.
The CIO is expected to be an active participant in many of the committees and groups that form the governance structure of the College, including involvement in periodic meetings of Institutional Policy and Planning, and Senior Staff meetings of both Vice President for Finance and Administration as well as Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in IT or a related field from an accredited institution is required. Advanced degree is preferred. Certifications in IT Security and Project Management are desired.
Experience Required:
Salary range: $190,000 - $200,000
