Work LocationIn person in New York or remote, full time or part time modalities would be considered. Expected durationExpected duration 4-5 months. Duties and ResponsibilitiesOrg. Setting and Reporting: This position is located in the UN Office for Partnerships (UN Partnerships). Guided by the priorities of the UN Secretary-General, UN Partnerships is the gateway to the UN system to connect and co-create partnerships to deliver solutions to reach everyone, everywhere. In its role as a connector, UN Partnerships proactively engages, convenes and leverages stakeholders, initiatives and solutions in support of the Decade of Action to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). UN Partnerships oversees the UN Fund for International Partnerships (UNFIP), the UN Democracy Fund (UNDEF), and the SDG Advocates programme, The incumbent will predominantly support initiatives of UNOP. The internship is for 4-5 months, with a starting date in July 2025 onwards. This internship opportunity is designed to be fulltime. Internship is in person. Responsibilities of the internship position may vary. They may include, but are not limited to: Research on topics related to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) initiatives Draft correspondence and background notes Support events and project implementation Assist reviewing project reports both narrative and financial; Draft communications to project partners; Carry out research on issues related to development, human rights, and gender equality Assist with tracking project negotiation and implementation; Assist with maintaining databases; Participate as note taker at UN conferences and meetings; Support in creating outreach materials; Support the work of the front office Perform other duties as required. Qualifications/special skillsTo qualify for an internship by the United Nations Headquarters Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (1) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (2) Be enrolled in the FINAL academic year of a university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or (3) Have graduated with a university degree as defined in (1) and (2). Applicants pursuing their studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages, have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree • Be computer literate in standard software applications; • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the internship advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage. Additional InformationVisa and Work Authorization Mandatory Requirements: For internships in the United States of America, persons who are not United States citizens, permanent residents or on another non-immigrant (such as F1 or J1 visa) status, will be required to obtain a G4 visa. The selected person will be responsible for ensuring that they have a valid visa, and approved employment authorization (CPT/OPT/AT), allowing them to undertake the internship. Terms of the internship programme: -The duration of this internship is period of 4-5 months. - Interns are expected to work on a full-time basis in the entity that has selected them, under the supervision of a staff member at an appropriate level. The working hours will be discussed with your supervisor at the time of the interview. Potential candidates will be contacted by the Hiring Manager directly for further consideration.
