Senior Data Modeler

Summary:

The Senior Data Modeler is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing semantic models that enable robust reporting, analytics, and data products.

Key Responsibilities:
* Design and implement semantic models using PowerBI and transition SSAS models to PowerBI.
* Build models by working with various data platforms, predominantly Databricks and SQL Server.
* Responsible for enhancing model and query performance, and partner with data engineers to design tables for optimal performance.
* Document data models, mappings, and business rules using Alation and other tooling.
* Work with stakeholders to elicit requirements, and mentor junior data modelers and data engineers in the appropriate use of BI tooling.
* Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to less experienced staff
* Responsible for QA/QC adherence
* Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies
* Performs other duties as assigned
* Complies with all policies and standards

Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering or related field and 8 years of experience in data modeling with a focus on PowerBI or SSAS required
* Advanced knowledge of AQL, DAX and M Query
* Familiarity with semantic layer platforms is highly desirable
* Solid understanding of database design principles, data warehousing concepts and ETL/ELT processes
* Experience with cloud environments like Azure
* Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment
* Demonstrated critical thinking skills
* Advanced experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $60.00 - $70.00 per hour
